Join us for a creative and relaxing day combining two favorite pastimes. Spend the morning stitching during our needlepoint session, then switch gears in the afternoon for mahjong fun. Whether you’re a beginner or have experience in either (or both!), we’ll have options to fit your level!

Base registration of $115 includes the following:

- A day full of mahjong and stitching with both old and new friends

- Mahjong Themed canvas designed by Anna McKenzie Studio with threads

Morning Needlepoint Sessions:

Instructor : Anna McKenzie Studio

1. Hang Out and Stitch: No additional cost. Choose this option if you want to spend the morning stitching with friends both new and old. Bring your current WIPs or start a new project with the

Mahjong themed canvas and kit you'll receive when you arrive! 

2. Learn to Stitch: Additional $60: You will finish the morning with a great understanding of basic stitches and confidence to start your first projects! You will learn Basketweave, Continental, T-stitch. There will be space for you to practice basic decorative stitches like Diagonal Mosaic, Diagonal Scotch, and Satin stitches. The needlepoint canvas will be painted to show you exactly where to stitch. You will practice how to start and end your thread. You will gain understanding in how to compensate for decorative stitches. 

- Materials Included: Painted Needlepoint canvas, threads, stretcher bars, Brass tacks, needle, scissors, needle threader, Charts and Instructions. 

3. Learn to Paint: Additional $60: Always wanted to learn how to paint your own canvas? Here is your opportunity to learn to paint your own canvas using a custom designed chart. You will gain understanding in how to read a chart and count our your stitches, be comfortable with the amount of paint you need on your brush and the technique needed to apply the paint appropriately to the canvas. You'll leave with a ready to stitch, hand-painted canvas!

- Materials Included: 13 mesh blank canvas, custom needlepoint chart, paint, paint brushes, Chart and Instructions.

Afternoon Mahjong Sessions:

Certified Oh My Mahjong Instructor : Elizabeth Fegert

1. Beginner Lesson: Additional $40: If you have never played Mahj before (or need a refresher) Elizabeth will be your personal instructor to teach you all the skills and tactics you need to know to play a game of American Mahjong! You will walk step by step through all the tiles, the card, building walls, completing the Charleston, and have time to practice a few games! You will leave feeling confident and knowledgeable to get you mahj on!! All supplies will be provided!

2. Open Play ($20): If you know how to mahj and are ready to play. All supplies provided except for 2025 NMJL card. Please bring your card with you. 

*Location parking information and address and the schedule will be shared to registrants by email before the event so you can plan your trip!
